How To Optimize For Search Engines
On this page we’ll discuss how to Optimize your website for search engine submission and better search engine Rankings.
Search Engines read the coding of your website and your website text ie. Content to know what your website is about. Sprinkling your keywords throughout your content is a must but on this page we’ll focus more on the Code of your site.
To do these tips you’ll need to understand and have access to your website HTML or you can use these tips to explain to your Website Designer what you expect.
1. Buy a Domain Name

2. Meta Tags
Not all Search Engines care about Meta Tags anymore because of past abuse but some do and you can’t afford to miss Any opportunity.
a. Meta Name=”Title=” This Meta Tag is what shows your website name and Couple keywords at the top of any open window of your website. Should be under 9 words.
Example: LeadWebDesigners.com – Website Design, Website Hosting and Search Engine Submission
b. Meta Name=”Description=” This Meta Tag is what shows on Search Engines Results pages under your link. 23 words at most describing what your website is about.
Example: Professional Website Design, Website Hosting and Pro-Level Search Engine Submission for small businesses
c. Meta Name=”Keywords=” This Meta Tag shows Search Engines what your website is about and is not generally shown to the public. You can have upto about 20 but you should be focusing on upto 3 Keywords or Keyword Phrases for your whole website to keep it targeted. To many Keywords dilutes the value of all. Notice in the example below there are no CAPS and just a comma, space after each word/phrase.

3. Image Alt Tags
Because Search Engines are blind they cannot “see” your website, they can only see the Code of your website so any picture on your website should have Alt tags which briefly describe the picture. This is another opportunity to slip your Keywords in!

4. Website Page Names
When deciding on what your website Pages are about keep in mind how you Name their URLs, it helps with search engine submission too! Another chance to use your Keywords that the Search Engines Will see!

http://www.LeadWebDesigners.com/website-design
5. Comment Lines
Sprinkle these throughout your website page code, Search Engines do read them and it’s Another chance to slip in your Keywords. No more than 3 per page.
